Graham A.Pavey designs gardens which are innovative, relaxing, easy to maintain and easy to use. Graham has been designing gardens for 25 years and we are very proud of the early gardens which are still growing and developing - our garden designs are designed and built to last.

Although we do not build the gardens ourselves, we have preferred landscape gardeners, or landscapers, who have been building from our garden designs for many years. This leaves Graham free to represent the client and ensure the work is carried out to the highest standards.

All garden design work is carried out by Graham so you can be assured of the highest level of attention. He will work with you to create the garden you want. 'It would not be right for me to experiment in people's gardens, so I work around what is there and only incorporate what I know will work'.

What is Garden Design? Good question. We are very passionate about garden design but feel it has lost its way. There seems to be a lack of understanding, within the industry, of garden design. Graham was trained by some of the leading garden designers of the 20th century and uses techniques designed to make a garden feel comfortable and roomy. Couple this with a desire to ensure the construction is carried out to a high standard, that the new area is practical and easy to look after, and you will have a good idea of what we try to achieve. From redesigning a part of the garden as the result of a new conservatory, or extension, to advising on front garden design to keep paving to a minimum and thereby save money for the client.

The garden design is only the first stage in the process of creating a garden. Construction, obtaining the plants, planting and maintenance are all important elements and we give assistance at every stage. We have other services which can be seen

Graham is also an author, and garden writer, and has written 6 books on garden design subjects. Some of his books have been published in French, German and Portuguese. He also gives talks on behalf of the Royal Horticultural Society and lectures extensively on garden design subjects.

Graham has also judged the show gardens at the East of England Show and been an assessor for the Northampton University degree course on Garden Design.

Recent prestigious projects include Sheri's Worship Garden at Bromham Lower School and the Tranquility Garden at Bedford Hospital. The latter Landscape Design incorporating Swan Sculptures by Susannah Oliver.

How far will Graham A.Pavey Garden Design travel? Based in Bromham just outside Bedford in Bedfordshire, Graham will travel to Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, London, Essex, Cambridge, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Warwickshire, Suffolk, Lincolnshire, Oxfordshire and Middlesex. Graham has also designed gardens in France, Italy, Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Berkshire, Yorkshire, Gloucestershire, Hampshire , Nottinghamshire, Rutland and Derbyshire. In fact Graham A.Pavey Garden Design will design gardens in any part of the United Kingdom, Europe and North America.

"The garden maker must have a plan before he begins, for a garden is like a picture that every year paints through the seasons, changing with theyears as plants grow tall, but it's main lines - it's trees and larger shrubs - must stay and it's success depends on how well they are grouped in the picture. If he starts in a haphazard way without a plan, the different parts that together make a whole garden will almost certainly be out of proportion and badly related. We have to think of a garden as a complete entity, which we can walk around - something akin to a picture gallery that is alive and growing. If the planning is done successfully it will result in an effect of greater space: if done badly we can make a fairly large garden look tiny and shut in" - Percy Cane, Garden Designer (1881 - 1976)

Dear Graham

D J Landscapes have just completed the patio and I have noticed that I should have written to Joanne Hodson to confirm when the plants would be required.  The work that Jason and his team from D J Landscapes have done is absolutely superb and we are extremely happy with everything.  Thank you so much for recommending him to us and for designing such a lovely patio garden for us to enjoy.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Regards
Nikki
